An optimal Packaging Forming fabric must deliver high fiber support and high drainage capacity combined with low caliper to meet the demands of high-performance packaging machines. The sheet side requires an exceptionally fine surface with high Fiber Support Index (FSI) to minimize wire marking, maximize mechanical retention, and ensure uniform formation for improved printability and surface planarity. The machine side demands a robust, highly abrasion-resistant construction—featuring long-floating weft designs and advanced wear-resistant materials to ensure dimensional stability and extended service life. Thin caliper and low void volume are critical for reducing water carryback and improving couch solids. The fabric must also provide controlled, steady-state drainage with engineered drainage channels to support efficient dewatering across a wide range of machine speeds and furnish types.
